Label co-owner Hd Substance releases his first full length album in the label, dedicated to his beloved city of Detroit, a place he has been very familiar with and somewhere he missed deeply since his last visit long ago.
On his very own words:
This is a ten song collection, digging deep into high tech soul and the spirit of the motor city: chords, intricate harmonies, shuffled grooves and black roots. An organic but electric soundtrack aimed for the well educated dancefloors or for detailed listening, made carefully, almost handcrafted the old school way, using analog synthesizers and classic Roland drum machines. All sequenced on hardware sequencers, all mixed on old analog consoles from the 80’s and 70’s and bounced live into tape.
Every song has the title of a crucial Detroit spot, places I’ve visited in depth, absorbing the music heritage of the most crucial influence on me by far. This has been a kind of exorcism for me, trying to cope with the loss of one of my best friends and the person responsible for discovering that amazing place.
